Why is Venus in Scorpio such a powerful placement?

The traditional associations of "Beauty" and "Peace" only give us a weak, partial, picture of Venus. Behind her bland face we have the deep magnetism of DESIRE. As we develop spiritually this Desire is focused at higher levels. We must also remember that Venus is the root of "Venereal" diseases. In Scorpio, for most people, this would tend to be at a sexual level. "Sexual Magnetism". There is also association with Vampires, where the blood is a symbol of the life force being sucked away. I have added the Scorpio Sun Sign Lesson below. We have an example in Mata Hari who was a spy in the First World War and used sex to gather information. She, and others like her of her time, were termed "Vamps", as short for vampire.
